Huskies 4th in GLIAC Preseason Men’s Basketball Poll

HOUGHTON -- Michigan Tech men's basketball was slated to finish fourth in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, released by the conference office Monday. The Huskies garnered one first-place vote and were behind Ferris State, Northern Michigan, and Lake Superior in the rankings. 

Tech men's basketball finished 21-7 overall in 2021-22 and went 16-4 in conference games, tying for first place with Ferris State (16-4). Head coach Josh Buettner was named GLIAC Coach of the Year in his first season at the helm.

With a talented young squad this season, Michigan Tech aims for its fourth straight winning season. The team played at Division I University of Wisconsin-Green Bay on Wednesday in an exhibition and fell 72-66 at Kress Center.

The regular season begins this week when the Huskies host the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover Tournament at SDC Gymnasium. MTU plays Lewis on Saturday at 2 p.m., followed by McKendree Sunday at 2 p.m.
