HANCOCK — The Hancock Bulldogs are hosting a seventh-grade boys basketball tournament this week at the high school gym.

L’Anse opened the tournament with a 40-31 win over Calumet in the first Division 1 semifinal. Maysen Thompson led the Purple Hornets with 13 points in the contest.

Houghton defeated Jeffers 47-22 in the second semifinal. Everett Matteson led the Gremlins with 11 points in the win.

In the first Division 2 semifinal, Ontonagon defeated Chassell by forfeit.

In the second semifinal, Lake Linden-Hubbell needed overtime to defeatet Hancock, 38-35.

Ryan Bykkonen led the Lakes with 11 points in the contest.

L’Anse and Houghton will meet in the Division 1 final on Wednesday at 5 p.m. Ontonagon and Lake Linden-Hubbell will play for the Division 2 title at 6:15 p.m.
