Copper Kings earn win over Wykons, 49-26
IRON RIVER — Tyler Black and Brayden Nelson scored 14 points each to lead the Calumet Copper Kings boys basketball team to a win over the West Iron County Wykons Wednesday.
Black hit two three-pointers in the first quarter to help the Copper Kings get off to a fast start. Nelson hit one as well. Calumet led 11-5 after eight minutes.
In the second quarter, Black added a pair of baskets, as did Levi Kilpela to help the Copper Kings take a 21-12 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Nelson caught fire in the third quarter, scoring nine points, including one three-pointer as Calumet continued to push the pace of play. They led 36-14 after three quarters.
In the fourth, Black scored two more baskets and Sincere Brooks added five points to help the Copper Kings finish strong.
