ITA ranks Huskies No. 45 in Division II women’s tennis

HOUGHTON — Michigan Tech women’s tennis was ranked No. 45 in Wednesday’s Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division II poll (Mar. 29). The Huskies have won three straight matches and are currently undefeated in GLIAC play.

Leading Tech at No. 1 singles and doubles is senior Dominika Bobik (Wroclaw, Poland). Bobik was individually ranked No. 71 in Division II singles on Wednesday.

She holds a 6-3 record at the top position in the lineup and has won five straight matches.

The No. 2 doubles team of Emily Cojocaru and Lauren Opalewski have also been ranked as high as No. 49 in doubles this season.

Last week, MTU picked up a pair of 4-3 road wins over Davenport and Purdue Northwest.

Michigan Tech (6-4, 3-0 GLIAC) travels to Saginaw Valley State on Friday, then returns to host Wayne State Saturday, April 1 at 2 p.m. at Gates Tennis Center.

The Huskies have qualified for the GLIAC Tournament each of the past two seasons under fourth-year head coach Kristin D’Agostini-Yep. The team fell in the GLIAC quarterfinals in 2021-22.
