NEENAH, Wis. — The Keweenaw’s Shottle Bop team defeated another Keweenaw-based team Monte Carlo in two straight games to claim the 2023 Wisconsin Frisbee Championship this past weekend.

Shottle Bop took two straight games in the hard-fought finals, getting revenge on Monte Carlo, which defeated them earlier in the tournament. It is the third time the Shottle Bop claimed the Wisconsin Championship.

Marquette’s DM Dragons took third place in the twelve-team event, the largest turnout in several years.

Shottle Bop’s Carter Nettell was named tournament Most Valuable Player and was joined on the team by Al Nettell, Will Blau, Ron Blau, Kyle Suvanto, and Connor Steer. The Monte Carlo team was composed of Rudy Tikkanen, Tim Meyer, Tyler Turcotte, Tyler Brunet, Cameron Murray, and Jared Colden.

The final was believed to be the first all-Keweenaw-based finals since 1978, when the Library Bar and Paul’s American Pie squared off at the 21st IFT and the University of Michigan Frisbee Festival.
