HOUGHTON — The Michigan Tech women’s basketball team is set for a trip to Italy and Greece and will spend ten days overseas before returning to Houghton on Aug. 22. The Huskies will showcase their talents in three exhibition games starting on Monday, Aug. 14 (Spanish All-Stars Select), Thursday, Aug. 17 (ZKK Domzale) and Sunday, Aug. 20 (Greek All-Stars).

The Huskies have scheduled a tour of the Rome Coliseum and Roman Forums and visit the Vatican Museums along with the Sistine Chapel before game one. Other highlights include a tour of Florence and a bike tour of Athens.

Following a week of games, the Huskies will enjoy a day cruise of the Saronic Islands to see historical islands in the Saronic Gulf before heading back to Houghton.

The Huskies have been back to practice as a team in Houghton for ten days in preparation for the trip abroad. Head coach Sam Clayton adds four newcomers to the 2023-24 roster with key returners in Alex Rondorf, Katelyn Meister and GLIAC All-Tournament team member, Isabella Lenz.

Tech went undefeated at home a year ago, going 14-0 in the SDC Gymnasium with an overall record of 25-7. They made it to the postseason, bowing out in the NCAA Midwest Regional Quarterfinal to Trevecca Nazarene.

The Huskies begin the 2023-24 regular season campaign, welcoming William and Jewell to the SDC Gymnasium on Nov. 11.
