NEGAUNEE — The Houhton Gremlins were the frontrunners in WestPAC cross country meets all season and were rewarded for their efforts after the league’s championship meet here Wednesday.

Houghton junior Birk Seagren was selected Boys’ Runner of the Year and Ishpeming senior Lola Korpi earned Girls’ Runner of the Year honors in voting by the league’s coaches.

Traci Welch, who guided the Gremlins to the WestPAC title, was named Coach of the Year.

Joining Seagren on the All-WestPAC team are Houghton sophomores Ben Hemmer and Colin Van Karsen and juniors Isaiah Lawson, Lane Laux, Carter Campioni and Brett Gaff; Ishpeming freshman Kemper Gearhard and junior Levi Nicholls; Negaunee sophomore Simon Jacklin and junior Michael Slawsinki; Westwood sophomore Roman Yuhas; Hancock senior Michael Bylkas and Gwinn junior Donald Jourden and senior Matthew Jenkins.

Lola Korpi led the all-conference list which includes Houghton juniors Roman Peterlin, Lily Ross, Katie Sarau and Kiira Niska and sophomores Tessa Rautiola and Jovie Williams; Negaunee junior Marlee Plaxco and freshman Riley Conklin; Hancock juniors Ella Keranen and Rayna Towles and sophomore Jill Berg; Westwood senior Retta Boburka and sophomore Addy Hallum and Ishpeming junior Laynie Korp.
