Gordon and Pietila named CCHA Players of the Week

HOUGHTON — Isaac Gordon and Chase Pietila, from the Michigan Tech hockey team, have been named CCHA Players of the Week the conference announced on Monday (Nov. 6). Gordon is the CCHA Rookie of the Week and Pietila is the CCHA Defenseman of the Week.

Isaac Gordon scored four goals in the non-conference sweep of Augustana over the weekend. He netted a hat trick in the 6-4 victory Friday while adding an assist and then opened the game’s scoring in a 4-3 overtime win on Saturday. The freshman forward from Landmark, Manitoba scored a goal in each period on Friday. He leads the Huskies with nine points and is tied for the team lead with five goals. His nine points lead all CCHA rookies, ranking fifth amongst all CCHA skaters.

Chase Pietila tallied three assists in the Huskies’ 4-3 overtime win over Augustana on Saturday. He had the primary assist on all three of Ryland Mosley’s goals. The duo connected on a pair of third period game-tying goals and then the overtime game-winner. The freshman from Howell, Michigan also blocked six shots in the series sweep of the Vikings and had a plus-two rating. The youngest Pietila on the roster ranks second on the team with five assists this season which ranks second amongst CCHA rookies.

The Huskies open CCHA play this weekend on the road at Bemidji State. The puck drops at 8:07 p.m. Eastern Friday at the Sanford Center and 7:07 p.m. on Saturday.
