GIRLS’ ROUNDUP: Panthers. Bulldogs win, Gremlins fall
PANTHERS TOP BLUE BOLTS
DOLLAR BAY — Despite getting 31 points from a pair of scorers Friday night, the Dollar Bay-Tamarack City Blue Bolts girls basketball team lost a close matchup with the Chassell Panthers, 42-39. The win was the first of her career for Panthers’ coach Casana Ryynanen.
Despite the loss, Blue Bolts coach Devin Schmitz felt his team took an important step.
“I think we got better, but this is just another step of the process,” he said. “As long as we improve a little bit every game we’ll be fine.”
He felt that his team still has a lot of work to do to improve its offense.
“We still have to get sharper on offense,” he said. “We’re doing great defensively, now we just have to finish the possession by getting the rebound.”
The Blue Bolts were led by Adelyn Swain, who had 16 points, and Evelyn Moilanen, who finished with 15.
“If we’re going to have success, the offense is going to have to funnel through them,” Schmitz said, “so we’re proud they stepped up and had a good game tonight.”
