Gordon named CCHA Rookie of the Week

HOUGHTON — The Michigan Tech Huskies’ Isaac Gordon is the CCHA Rookie of the Week the conference announced on Monday (Jan. 22). It’s the second time this season he’s received the honor.

Gordon had a goal and an assist on the weekend as the Huskies took 4-of-6 CCHA points against Bemidji State. The freshman forward from Landmark, Manitoba, tied the game in the second period on Friday with his team-leading 12th goal of the season in a 2-1 win. Gordon then had the primary assist on Matthew Campbell’s game-tying power-play goal with 4.9 seconds left on Saturday.

Gordon leads the Huskies with 21 points this season with 12 goals and nine assists. His 12 goals rank third in the CCHA and sixth amongst NCAA rookies and his 21 points are 13th amongst NCAA newcomers.

Tech is 10-10-5 overall and 7-6-1 in the CCHA after the win and tie with the Beavers last weekend.

UP NEXT

The Huskies hit the road this weekend to Lake Superior State for their only meeting of the season with the Lakers. The puck drops at 7:07 p.m. Friday and 6:07 p.m. Saturday in the Soo.
