HOUGHTON — Michigan Tech goaltender Blake Pietila and forward Isaac Gordon were named to the All-CCHA Second Team the league announced on Monday.

Pietila has started 34 games for the Huskies in his fifth season and is 16-12-6 with a 2.30 goals-against average and .918 save percentage. He has four shutouts on the season and extended school records this year with his 24th career shutout and 74th career win. He ranks third in NCAA history in shutouts and is the active NCAA leader in games played by a goaltender, wins, and shutouts.

In CCHA games, Pietila went 12-9-2 with a 2.05 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage, leading the league in conference wins, games played (23), shutouts (3), and total saves (578). He finished third in goals-against average and save percentage, helping the Huskies to three shutout victories and a place in the Mason Cup Semifinals.

Pietila was named the CCHA Scholar-Athlete of the Year earlier this season and was the CCHA Goaltender of the Month for December and February. He was named the CCHA Goaltender of the Week three times this season and was honored on the GLI All-Tournament Team after backstopping the Huskies to their 12th title and stopping a career-high 54 shots in the championship game.

Gordon was also honored on the CCHA All-Rookie Team. He has skated in all 37 games this season and has seven multi-point games. He had a hat trick on November 3 against Augustana while also adding an assist for a four-point night. He had seven-game and five-game point streaks during the season and is currently on a three-game point streak with three goals and five assists.

Gordon tied Kyle Kukkonen’s mark from last season for the fifth-most goals by a Michigan Tech freshman in program history. His 30 points is the most by a Tech rookie since Alex Petan when he tallied 34 during the 2012-13. He was named the CCHA Rookie of the Week three times and the CCHA Rookie of the Month in November after tallying nine points.

In CCHA games, Gordon played in all 24 contests for the Huskies and was second among all CCHA skaters in goals (11) during conference play, pacing league rookies in points (20) and plus-minus (+10) and finishing second in shots (66). Fifth overall in plus-minus, he was third on Michigan Tech with nine assists, including two helpers on the power play. Notching three multi-point games, he had two five-game point streaks during the conference season and tallied a game-winning goal against Bowling Green (Dec. 2).

The CCHA will be announcing its all-conference teams and award recipients throughout the week. The All-CCHA First Team announcement is scheduled for later today with major awards being released on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
