Keweenaw Volleyball Club teams compete in Spring Classic

DULUTH — The Keweenaw Volleyball Club teams had a strong showing in the 2024 Spring Classic, hosted by Minnesota North Volleyball Club, in the Duluth metropolitan area this past weekend.

The 18U team, coached by Cindy Pindral and Leiya Rybicki, earned second place overall in the 18 Club Division with a 3-2 match record. Setter Laney Johnson (junior, Houghton) led the team in assists and aces, opposite Madelyn Torola (junior, Calumet) led the offense in kills, and middle blocker Brielle Kero (senior, Hancock) led the team in blocks.

The 16U team, coached by Richelle Winkler, earned fifth place in the 16s division, winning the silver bracket with a 4-1 overall record.

The 15U team, coached by Joslynn Perala, tied for seventh place in the 15s division with a record of 2-2.

The 14U-Black team, coached by Brian and Rachel Lamppa, earned fifth place in the 14s division, winning the silver bracket with a 4-1 overall record.

The 14U-Blue team, coached by Jeff Henquinet and Sarah Bradley, tied for 11th place in the 14s division with an overall record of 1-3.

The 13U team, coached by Katie Schlief and Amanda Caldwell, placed 10th in the 14s division with a record of 2-3.

The 12U team, coached by Lela Miller and Sarah Semmler-Smith, went 2-2 and tied for third place in the 12s division.

The Keweenaw Volleyball Club (KVBC) is a Junior Volleyball Association (JVA) member organization that serves junior players ages 10-18 from across the Keweenaw region. KVBC offers an introductory skills clinic for fifth-sixth graders in the fall and competitive travel teams for 12U-18U during the winter months.
