Trio of Huskies earn All-GLIAC accolades

HOUGHTON — Sophomore guard Marcus Tomashek has been named to the First Team All-GLIAC as Michigan Tech’s Dan Gherezgher has been tabbed Second Team All-GLIAC and Josh Terrian was named to the All-GLIAC Defensive Team, the league office announced Friday.

Tomashek, a native of Green Bay, Wisconsin, paced the league with a conference-leading 393 points, averaging 21.8 per game, scoring 58 more points than the next best scorer. He also added 3.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists in league play. He made a league-leading 50 3-pointers at 45.5 percent, being one of two players to make 50 triples in the league with the best shooting percentage. He played in all 18 games, making 17 starts in GLIAC play, logging over 32.5 minutes an outing. Tomashek was also the only player in the GLIAC to earn Offensive Player of the Week accolades three times this season. He also had four games with 30 or more points in GLIAC play, with his career-high of 39 points coming against Saginaw Valley on Dec. 7.

Gherezgher, hailing from Brookfield, Wisconsin, averaged 15.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists in league play this season. He ranked ninth in points per game in GLIAC play in 15 games, making 14 starts. He averaged 28.8 minutes played and had seven games scoring 20 or more points, with his season high of 26 points coming against Purdue Northwest on Feb. 8 and Grand Valley State on Mar. 6. Gherezgher had two double-doubles and neared a triple double on Feb. 24 with a statline of 23 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

Terrain, from Pewaukee, Wisconsin, started 17 games in GLIAC play, logging 32.3 minutes per game, which ranked second on the team. He averaged 5.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists. The heart of the team, Terrain was a swiss army knife on the court as one of the most versatile defenders in the GLIAC with abilities to guard multiple positions. He had 47 defensive rebounds and an assist to turnover ratio of 2.25. Terrain Netted a career-high 17 points against then-No. 12 ranked Ferris State on Jan. 11.

The Huskies wrapped up the 2023-24 campaign on Wednesday night, falling at Grand Valley State in the GLIAC Tournament quarterfinals for an overall record of 11-17 and 8-10 in the loop.
