Gremlins volleyball tops Jets
PAINESDALE — On Thursday evening, the Houghton Gremlins topped the host Jeffers Jets, winning in five sets, 24-26, 25-23, 24-26, 25-18 and 15-13.
Jeffers jumped out to a one-game lead by winning the first game by two. Houghton responded with a second set win, also by two. Jeffers took the match lead back with a two-point win in the third.
Houghton bounced back to win the fourth set before taking the tiebreaker by two points. Jeffers falls to 0-1 on the season.
For the Gremlins, Chloe Serafin led the way with 14 kills, eight blocks, and 21 digs. Sophie Hebert added 11 kills. Laney Johnson moved the ball around with 41 assists and 31 digs.
Emmy Pietila added 41 digs.
