Purple Hornets boys comeback to top Jets
L’ANSE — Trailing by six at the start of the fourth quarter, the L’Anse Purple Hornets boys basketball team outscored the Jeffers Jets 22-9 in the final minutes to earn their third straight win to start the season, 56-49.
“We came out flat in the first half,” said Purple Hornets coach Robert Potter. “There was no energy, and we were just going through the motions. Thankfully, at halftime, a spark was lit and a 5-0 run to start the half made the game 27-29.”
L’Anse was led by freshman Sam Lee, who nearly put up a double-double with 27 points and seven rebounds.
Jeffers was led by Landon Larson, who scored 21.
