Bulldogs qualify from Region 43 meet in Iron River
IRON RIVER — The Hancock Bulldogs track team had a strong day in Iron River Wednesday at the Region 43 meet. The Boys finished fourth and the girls finished fifth.
Senior Ifedayo Bejide finished third in the 110m hurdles. He also finished fifth in the 300m hurdles.
The Jeffers Jets had senior Nick Andrews finish second in the discus with a throw of 108 feet, 4 inches.
On the girls’ side, the Jets’ Brielle Anderson, a sophomore finished second in the 200m with a season-best time of 30.23. She later won the long jump with a jump of 14 feet, 11.25 inches.
Hancock’s Ella Keranen, a senior, and freshman Alena Pietila finished second and third in the 800m. Keranen set a new personal record with a time of 2:35.42.
Jeffers’ Remi Coponen, a freshman, took fourth.
In the 1600m, Pietila took second, senior Rayna Towles took third, and Keranen took fourth.
In the 3200m, Keranen took second, Pietila took third, Towles took fourth, and senior Emily Moore finished fifth.
Hancock’s 4x800m relay team of Marie Thompson, Abby Bradway, Moore and Towles won their race with a personal-record time of 11:25.06.
