HANCOCK — Hancock High School announced their 2025 Outstanding Male and Female athletes Friday. Ella Keranen was named the female athlete, while Ned Larson was named the male athlete.

Keranen was a four-year varsity runner for both cross country and track and field. She served as team captain. She was both All-Conference and All-State in both sports all four years. She scored in all four U.P. Cross Country Finals.

She was twice the individual runner-up at U.P. Finals in 2023 and 2024.

She has been the lead leg of the 4x800m relay team that won the 2024 U.P. title.

She will finish as top points scorer for track and field this season.

She finished as the class salutatorian as well.

Larson competed in three sports, football, basketball, and baseball, and lettered in all of them.

He was named to the All-WestPAC First Team in 2024 for baseball. He was named the Second Team in 2025.

In basketball, he earned All-WestPAC honorable mention in 2024.

In football, over the course of his career, he played nearly every position.
