Loukus, Bjorn named Copper Kings’ 2025 Outstanding Athletes

CALUMET — The Calumet Copper Kings announced their Outstanding Athletes Thursday.
Ted Loukus was the George Gipp award winner as the most outstanding senior male athlete in the Class of 2025. This award has been given out annually at Calumet High School since 1938.
Allison Bjorn was the Holly Jean McCullah award winner for the most outstanding senior female athlete in the Class of 2025. This award has been given out annually since 1976.
Loukus finished his high school career with 12 letters earned in four sports. He earned two in football, three in hockey, three in track and field, and four in golf.
He was named Academic All-State in 2024 in football. In hockey, he was named the John Sherf Captain’s Award winner in 2024 and 2025, Division 3 All-State honorable mention in 2024, Great Lakes Hockey Conference All-Conference Second Team, All-State Second Team, and Academic All-State in 2025.
Bjorn earned eight Toal letters in three sports. She earned two in baseball, two in track and field, and four volleyball.
In basketball, she was named WestPAC honorable mention in 2025. In track and field, she was named All-State in shot put in 2024.
In volleyball, she was named WestPAC All-Conference First Team and All-Region in 2022. In 2023, She was named to the WestPAC All-Conference First Team, the All-U.P. Dream Team, the All-Region team, and the All-State Third Team. In 2024, she was named WestPAC All-Conference Player of the Year as an outside hitter, All-Region Team, All-U.P. Ms. Volleyball, All-U.P. Offensive Player of the Year, and All-U.P. Dream Team, the All-State First Team, and she earned Academic All-State Individual honors.
