WestPAC announces All-Conference baseball teams

HOUGHTON — The Negaunee Miners took most of the major awards as the WestPAC announced their baseball all-conference teams Thursday.

Senior Ian Engstrom was named Co-Player of the Year. He shared the award with Houghton Gremlins senior Jackson Vondoloski.

Miners junior Morgan Robar was named Pitcher of the Year. The Miners’ Jason Siik was named Coach of the Year.

VonDoloski threw 23 1/3 innings this season in eight games, starting six of them. He went 2-2, striking out 33 while walking nine. He only gave up four earned runs. His ERA was 1.20.

At the plate, he was the Gremlins’ third-best hitter, hitting .358 with an OPS of .911. He had 15 singles and four doubles.

Calumet junior Darin Berg, Hancock sophomore Ben Keranen, and Houghton senior Eli Heathman and junior Joel Durocher were all named to the First Team.

Joining them were Iron Mountain’s Jake Powell, Negaunee’s Jack Siik, Owen Cardinal, and Tristan Slater, and Westwood’s Isak Ruspakka.

Calumet junior Nathan Londo, Hancock freshman Chase Keranen, senior Ned Larson, and junior Caleb Isaacson, and Houghton senior Hudson Markham and junior Brycyn Nettell were all named to the Second Team.

Joining them were Negaunee’s Evan DellAngelo, Killean Ryan, and Aiden Steele.

Calumet seniors Liam Pomroy and Matt Frantti, Hancock junior Brayden Larson and Houghton junior Rylan Isaacson were all given honorable mention.

Also honored were Negaunee’s Devin Jurmu and Westwood’s Roman Yuhas.
