APPLETON, Wis. — The Houghton Football Club select teams traveled to the Appleton Summer Shootout Tournament in Appleton, Wisconsin, during the weekend of June 21-22, 2025, to wrap up the 2024-25 season.

The U14 team clinched a tournament victory to add to their list of tournament successes this season.

The team played in the shootout’s most competitive bracket, which included one of Wisconsin’s premier-level teams. With the shootout victory, the U14 team closed out the season with three tournament wins and one runner-up finish out of the last four tournaments. 

The U12 team also placed into a more competitive bracket than last year, and despite a roster consisting mainly of U11 players, the team secured one tie and two narrow defeats, 5-4 and 4-2.

The U10 team, also placed in a competitive bracket, scored two victories and one loss. 

Finally, the recently formed Northwoods U15 Boys team, a collaboration between Marquette United and Houghton FC, delivered a strong performance at the tournament as well with one win, one loss, and one draw. Despite not practicing together during the spring season, the team showed resilience and solid teamwork, signaling a promising future for this collaborative effort.

The Appleton tournament wrapped up an amazing season for Houghton FC select teams with several tournament wins by multiple teams, despite being now consistently placed into tougher brackets.

Registration for next season coming to a close
