On Saturday, May 31, the Houghton High School boys 4×800 m relay team of Ben Hemmer, Birk Seagren, Colin Van Karsen, and Luke Hill won first place in Division 1 at the MHSAA UP Track and Field Finals in Kingsford for the second year in a row. Moreover, they set a new school record with a time of 8:14.01, beating the previous record of 8:15.38, which was set in 2016 by Seth Helman, P.J. Donnelly, Nick Wilson, and Clayton Sayen. Houghton distance runner Luke Hill finished second in the 800m with a personal record time of 1:59.72, fifth in the 1600m, and eighth in the 3200m.
