Registration still open for the Shine the Light 5K

HANCOCK — The Keweenaw Community Foundation (KCF) reminds community members that now is the time to register for the 5K at the Shine the Light 4 Healthy Minds: Keweenaw 5K and Public Safety Day, happening Saturday, July 12, at Mohawk Park.

Register by June 15 to guarantee your race t-shirt: https://bit.ly/ks4hm-5k-25. T-shirts will also be sold on race day for $20 while supplies last.

This family-friendly event benefits Keweenaw Support 4 Healthy Minds (KS4HM), a Special Community Project of KCF dedicated to mental health awareness and suicide prevention in Houghton, Baraga, and Keweenaw Counties.

The day includes a 5K run/walk, a free Kids’ Dash, and the Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Public Safety Day featuring emergency vehicle tours, hands-on demos, and kid-friendly activities.

Event Schedule:

– 9:00 a.m. – Packet and T-shirt pickup

– 10:00 a.m. – 5K Run/Walk

– Following the 5K – Kids’ Dash (ages 8 and under)

– 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. – Public Safety Day

– 12:00 p.m. – Prize Drawings

Medals will be awarded to top finishers in both the 5K and Kids’ Dash. All participants are invited to enjoy free hot dogs, refreshments, games, and more.

Volunteers needed

Looking for a meaningful way to give back? KS4HM is seeking volunteers to help with race setup, logistics, cleanup, and more. No experience necessary — just a willingness to pitch in.
