2025-26 Michigan Tech men’s basketball schedule unveiled

HOUGHTON — Fresh off a run in the NCAA Tournament a season ago, the 2025-26 Michigan Tech men’s basketball schedule has been unveiled, highlighted by 12 games inside the SDC Gym, with the season starting on Nov. 1, with the postseason beginning in March. 

The Huskies were GLIAC Champions a season ago, going 24-8 overall and 17-3 in GLIAC play, while holding an undefeated home record during the regular season (13-0), returning to the NCAA Tournament while seeing standout guard Marcus Tomashek rack up a multitude of postseason accolades which included being an NABC All-American, a D2CCA First Team All-American, a CSC Academic All-American, D2CCA Midwest Regional Player of the year, GLIAC Player of the Year, D2CCA All-Region First Team, GLIAC Player of the Year and a Bevo Francis Top-25 Watch List selection as coach Josh Buettner secured his second GLIAC Coach of the Year distinction in year fourth at the helm of his alma mater. 

Nonconference play

The Huskies will partake in four different tournaments in nonconference play, seeing unfamiliar teams from the central, south, south central and southeast regions.

The season kicks off in the Sunshine State at the prestigious Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic, where the Black and Gold will clash against two Elite Eight teams from last season in Lone Star Conference affiliate Dallas Baptist (Nov. 1) and South Atlantic Conference affiliate Lenoir-Rhyne (Nov. 2). 

Michigan Tech then heads to the Wisconsin Dells for the third straight year for the Justagame Crossover at the Justagame Fieldhouse, facing foes from last year in Missouri-St Louis and Maryville on Nov. 15 and 16. 

Michigan Tech also returns to the St. Louis County Basketball Classic hosted by Northern Sun Conference affiliate Minnesota Duluth (Nov. 21) before facing St. Cloud State on Nov. 22.

The Huskies conclude their nonconference slate, returning to the Sunshine State for the Florida Tech Winter Classic, where they will face host school Florida Tech (Dec. 19) and Lynn (Dec. 20), both members of the Sunshine State Conference. 

Michigan Tech will also host two exhibition games before the New Year, welcoming Lakeland on Nov. 29 and UW-Stout on Dec. 13. 

GLIAC Play

The conference slate showcases 20 games with the Black and Gold playing host to Roosevelt (Dec. 4) and Wisconsin-Parkside (Dec. 6). In the New Year, Michigan Tech begins a four-game homestand opening with Grand Valley State (Jan. 1), Davenport (Jan. 3), Northern Michigan (Jan. 8) and Ferris State (Jan. 10). 

The Huskies then alternate weekends of away and home for four-straight weeks, with road matchups at Saginaw Valley State (Jan. 15) and Elite Eight competitors from last season, Lake Superior State (Jan. 17) before venturing to Davenport (Jan. 29) and Grand Valley State (Jan. 31) two weeks later.

Michigan Tech hosts Wayne State (Jan. 22), Purdue Northwest (Jan. 24), Lake Superior State and Saginaw Valley State (Feb. 7) before back-to-back weeks on the road late in the season, heading to Purdue Northwest (Feb. 12), Wayne State (Feb. 14), Northern Michigan (Feb. 19) and Ferris State (Feb. 23). MTU caps the regular season at the SDC Gym, welcoming Wisconsin-Parkside (Feb. 26) and Roosevelt (Feb. 28).
