Women’s Fastpitch roundup: Superior Service wins again, Gold Standard keeps winning

LAKE LINDEN — In Copper Country Women’s Fastpitch action Monday, Superior Service earned their second win of the season and second in a row, with a 6-2 win over JB’s Sales and Service. In the other game at the Boneyard in Lake Linden, Gold Standard kept up their winning ways with an 11-10 victory over Old Bats of Michigan Made.

The game between Northern Wishes and Finnish Coat was postponed.

Superior Service 6, JB’s Sales and Service 2

Superior Service defeated JB’s Sales and Service 6-2.

Josie Heinonen was the winning pitcher and Lucy Biekkola took the loss. Heinonen had 15 strikeouts and walked two. Biekkola had 10 strikeouts and walked one.

For Superior Service, Milly Loukus had a single, a double and a home run and Dela Jefferey had a single and a double.

For JB’s Sales and Service, Biekkola had two singles and a double, and Anika Schlief had two singles. 

Gold Standard 11, Old Bats of Michigan Made 10

Gold Standard defeated Old Bats of Michigan Made 11-10 in eight innings.

Payton Goldsworthy was the winning pitcher with 15 strikeouts, and Romi Mattson took the loss. 

For Gold Standard, Payton Goldsworthy had a home run, Kyara Mills had two doubles, and Olivia Shank had a double.

For Old Bats of Michigan Made, Alana Nolan had a single, Romi Mattson had two doubles and Sarah Dowd had two singles.

On Wednesday in Chassell, Superior Service will take on Old Bats of Michigan Made at 5:30 p.m. and at 7:15 p.m., JB’s Sales and Service will battle Northern Wishes. At 7 p.m. at the Boneyard, Finnish Coat will play Gold Standard.
