Roundup: Copper Kings, Gladiators volleyball earn wins

HOUGHTON — With wins in the first, third, and fourth sets, the Calumet Copper Kings volleyball team earned a 3-1 win over the Houghton Gremlins Tuesday night at the Houghton High School Gym. Calumet won the first set, 25-22, but the Gremlins responded with a 25-23 win in the second. Calumet won the third set, 25-22, and then the fourth, 25-19.

For Houghton, Lydia Williams led the offense with 11 kills, 14 assists, and three blocks. Ellie Hainault had eight kills and five blocks.

Emmy Pietila had 35 digs defensively. Katia Rudak added 19 digs and four aces.

Gladiators topple Panthers

CHASSELL — The Ontonagon Gladiators volleyball team earned a sweep of the Chassell Panthers Tuesday, 25-17, 25-20, and 25-18, at the Ed Helakoski Gym.

Oriana Olson had six kills, three blocks, three aces and two digs. Sylvia Aho had 16 assists, six digs and three aces.

Dusty Lippold had five kills, three aces and three digs. Elli Kuntze had 14 digs, three kills, two blocks, and one ace.
