Roundup: Jets, Bulldogs hockey teams earn big wins
Jets roll over Miners
HOUGHTON — The Jeffers Jets hockey team got a hat trick from Cameron Anderson and 14 saves from Kasen Helminen in a 9-1 win over the Negaunee Miners Tuesday at the MacInnes Student Ice Arena in Houghton.
The Jets struck twice in the opening frame as Brogan Turner scored at 10:15 with the assist going to Max Nordstrom, and then Cade Coponen scored at 12:03. Ryan Turnpeinen and Hudsen Heinonen both picked up assists on that goal.
In the second, Cameron Anderson scored twice in a stretch of just under three minutes to extend the lead to four before Vinny Seratti scored at 7:34. Anderson picked up an assist on the goal, as did Tage Rajala.
Nordstrom extended the lead again at 10:59 off a feed from Turner.
Leading 6-1 in the third, the Jets struck three more times.
Rajala scored at 1:09, then Easton Therrian scored at 4:04, and Anderson capped his hat trick at 6:19, sealing the win.

The Jets are back in action Saturday when they host Novi at 1 p.m.
Bulldogs post 10 in win over Emeralds
MANISTIQUE — The Hancock Bulldogs scored three goals in the first and second periods, and then four times in the third to defeat the Manistique Emeralds Tuesday, 10-2.
Trailing 1-0 in the first period, Hancock tied things up just 20 seconds later when Luciano Paoli scored at 13:39. Connor Helminen scored at 15:05 to give the Bulldogs the lead, and then Nolan Hanner struck with just 15 seconds left in the period to give Hancock at 3-1 lead.
In the second period, Hanner scored just 28 seconds in. Then Ted Kilpela extended the lead to 5-1 at 1:02.
After Manistique cut the lead to 5-2, Jax Pierner scored on the power play at 8:07 to regain the four-goal advantage at 6-2.
In the third, the Bulldogs got goals from Brady Axford, Marty Pietila, Helminen, and Lukas Axford on the power play to close out the game.
