HOUGHTON — The Copper Country Snowsports Club, presented by UPWard Coffee & Orthodontics of Houghton, had an impressive weekend of racing in Searchmont, Canada, with two first-place, one second-place, and three third-place podium finishes.
“Even though our season doesn’t officially start until next weekend, a few skiers headed north to battle some temperatures as low as -15 degrees in search of national and international ranking points, and came home with the goods,” said CCSC director of public relations Kris Anderson.
In the 16 and under category, Corinne Rubin of Houghton won the slalom and finished an impressive third overall in the entire women’s field.
CCSC Alumni skiers also had some great results with Reed Heathman, from Northern Michigan University, finishing second overall in the slalom and third in giant slalom. His brother, Eli Heathman, raced to a first-place finish in the giant slalom.
The Copper Country Snowsports Club presented by UPWard Coffee and UPWard Orthodontics of Houghton Michigan is proudly sponsored by Down Wind Sports, The Compound, Warm Rain, Superior National Bank, American Forest Management and UP Health.
