Purple Hornets boys defeat Chassell
L’ANSE — Sam Lee led all scorers with 23 points as the L’Anse Purple Hornets boys basketball team cruised to a 91-58 victory over the Chassell Panthers Wednesday at the L’Anse Area High School gym.
Lee had 12 points in the first quarter as part of a 27-point opening frame for the Purple Hornets. Keegan Davidson added seven of his 18 points in the quarter as well.
For Chassell, Luke Tarvis, who led his team with 18 points, had five in the opening quarter.
In the second quarter, L’Anse continued to push their offense, scoring 32 points. Talan Larson scored nine of 17 points to lead the way. Davidson added seven.
The Panthers scored 15 points, with Brayden Larson led the way with seven points. He finished with 17 points in the game.
With six points, including going 4-for-4 from the free throw line, Lee drove the L’Anse offense to another 24-point quarter.
Brayden Larson scored seven points for the Panthers as they put up 16 in the quarter. Luke Tarvis added six.
In the fourth, the Panthers outscored the Purple Hornets, 15-8. Luke Tarvis and Dayne Tarvis both scored six points on two 3-pointers. Dayne Tarvis scored 12 in the game.
