ONTONAGON — The Houghton Gremlins boys basketball team earned a 71-35 win over the Ontonagon Gladiators Wednesday night in Ontonagon.

“A solid defensive effort in the second half won the game for us after a 23-20 halftime score,” said Gremlins coach Jared Lawson.

Four Gremlins finished in double figures. Terrence Nolan led the Gremlins with 19 points. Mason Mayo had 12, Alex Herbert put up 11, and Jack Cooke added 10.

Jack Nelson led the Gladiators with 15 points.

Purple Hornets down Nimrods

WATERSMEET — The L’Anse Purple Hornets boys basketball team hit the road Wednesday and cruised to a 77-43 win over the Watersmeet Nimrods.

Sam Lee paced the Purple Hornets with 36 points. Keegan Davidson added 14.
