Vikings boys shut down Chassell
BARAGA — Daniel Conner scored 25 points to help lift the Baraga Vikings boys basketball team to a 67-50 win at home over the Chassell Panthers.
As impressive as Conner’s night was, Chassell’s Brayden Larson did everything he could to match it. He hit seven 3-pointers and led all scorers with 27 points.
The Vikings raced out to a 16-5 lead after one quarter and then held on from there to earn the win.
Joseph Fish had a strong start for Baraga, hitting two free throws and then adding three buckets for eight points. He finished his night with 16. Conner added six.
Luke Tarvis had all five points for the Panthers in the quarter.
Chassell had a much stronger second quarter, scoring 15 points. They were paced by another five from Tarvis, who finished his night with 14, and by Larson, who had 10.
The only problem? The Vikings racked up 17. Easton Faucault led the way with five of his 12 points.
In the third quarter, the Panthers scored 18, thanks to nine on three 3-pointers by Larson. Grady Olson added a pair of buckets.
Baraga scored just 10 as Chassell pulled within five, 43-38, after 24 minutes.
However, the Vikings bounced back with a huge fourth quarter, scoring 24 points while holding Chassell to 12.
Conner paced Baraga with 12 points of his own in the quarter. Faucault added five.
Larson led the Panthers with two 3-pointers and eight points in the final eight minutes.
