Blue Bolts boys earn win over Gremlins Friday
DOLLAR BAY — The Dollar Bay-Tamarack City Blue Bolts boys basketball team rallied around a 19-point night from Liam Tourtillott to earn a 64-48 win over the Houghton Gremlins Friday.
However, it was his younger brother that caught the attention of their coach.
“Exceptional team win tonight,” said Blue Bolts coach Jesse Kentala. “Game ball goes to Noah Tourtillott for his relentless pressure guarding Terrance Nolan.”
Noah Tourtillott finished his night with 18 points.
Nolan was held to just 13 points in the loss for the Gremlins. He had just two 3-pointers in the game.
Kentala was proud of the way his team battled throughout the game for the win.
“Houghton is well coached and a very nice team,” he said. “We’re excited about this win.”
Dollar Bay led 22-15 after the first quarter, thanks to two 3-pointers and a pair of baskets, including an and-1, by Liam Tourtillott.
Houghton’s Alex Hebert, who led his team with 17 points, hit a pair of 3-pointers of his own in the first quarter to help keep pace.
Mason Mayo had a strong second quarter for the Gremlins as he made two baskets before hitting a 3-pointer. He finished his night with nine points.
Houghton outscored the Blue Bolts 12-11 in the third, but Noah Tourtillott turned things up in the fourth, and he made four baskets to help Dollar Bay create a little bigger cushion to end the night on.
