SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. — For the second-straight game, the Michigan Tech Huskies women’s basketball team saw its starters score all but four points in a 68-57 win at Lake Superior State on Saturday afternoon.

Senior guard Soraya Timms netted a career-high 20 points on an efficient 9-for-18 from the field and a team-leading six assists. Junior guard Alyssa Wypych (18), sophomore guard Ella Mason (12) and senior forward Janie Tormanen (12) reached double figures. Michigan Tech completed its second GLIAC weekend sweep of the season to improve to 11-5 overall and 5-3 in league play. Lake Superior State dropped to 4-11 and 1-6 in the conference play.

“I thought we came out and executed defensively and I thought we did a good job on Bradford and Capardi,” said Huskies coach Sam Clayton. “When we have that versatility with scoring and when Soraya looks to score she’s gonna be hard to guard because of her passing capabilities. Alyssa did a phenomenal job cutting and proud of Janie with another double-double and it’s another stepping stone heading into a tough game next Thursday.”

Timms (14) and Mason (12) paced the team with 26 combined points at half, as Dara Capaldi had 12 points to lead the home team.

After keeping the Lakers’ leading score at bay through the first half, Grace Bradford got hot in the third quarter, going 4-for-4 from the field, two of which from 3-point land, as LSSU outscored the Huskies 19-14 in the third quarter.
