CALUMET — After a big first quarter, the Dollar Bay-Tamarack City Blue Bolts boys basketball team held off a four-quarter push by the Calumet Copper Kings to emerge from the Calumet High School gym with a 41-32 win.

The Copper Kings outscored the Blue Bolts 17-8 in the fourth, but it was not enough to overcome a 33-15 deficit after three quarters.

Dollar Bay jumped out to an 18-4 lead after eight minutes. They did it with a balanced attack that saw Caleb Kentala and Baron Colbert each scored two baskets while Liam Tourtillott had two baskets and a 3-pointer. From there, Tourtillott was largely held in check by the Copper Kings, managing just two more baskets, both in the second quarter to finish with 11 points.

John Golus hit a 3-pointer in the second quarter for the Copper Kings, and had one other basket, but Calumet found itself behind 24-10 at half.

Dollar Bay scored nine in the third, thanks to a pair of baskets from Colbert, who led all scorers with 14 points and two from Tyler Jaehnig.

In the fourth, Colbert had six points on the strength of three baskets, but Jaehnig had the only other one the Blue Bolts scored.

For Calumet, Andrew Junttila hit a 3-pointer, and Peter Torola, who led the Copper Kings with 10 points, scored eight of his points with a basket, a 3-pointer, and 3-of-4 free throws.

Jaehnig finished with 10 points for the Blue Bolts to give them three players in double figures.
