CALUMET — With one goal in the first, two in the second and one in the third, the Calumet Copper Kings earned a 4-0 win over the visiting Negaunee Miners Saturday at the Calumet Colosseum.

With the win, the Copper Kings improved to 16-7-1 on the season.

All four goals came from four different scorers as the Copper Kings used a balanced attack to drown the Miners.

Junior forward Kaden Cronenworth scored the game’s first goal, and the only one that Calumet needed, at the 13:57 mark of the first period. The unassisted goal was his third of the year.

Alternate captain Luke Hamlin added to the lead on the power play 5:20 into the second period. Co-captain Erik Loukus and junior forward Brady Boberg both earned assists on Hamlin’s ninth goal of the season.

Junior forward Josh Asiala scored the Copper Kings’ third goal at 13:19. The unassisted goal was Asiala’s third of the season.

Looking for insurance in the third period, Calumet got it late when senior defenseman Robert Loukus scored his fifth of the year at 11:01. Hamlin and alternate captain Ben Anderson assisted on the goal.

Junior goaltender Jett Stites made nine stops to earn the shutout win.
