Jack Anderson signs NHL contract with Dallas Stars

DALLAS — Michigan Tech Huskies hockey senior defenseman Jack Anderson has signed a two-year entry-level NHL contract with the Dallas Stars, announced Wednesday by General Manager Jim Nill. Anderson was an undrafted free agent and appeared in 129 NCAA games while tallying 49 points.

As an alternate captain with the Huskies this season, Anderson tallied a career-best 24 points in 39 games.

Anderson will report to the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League (AHL) for the remainder of the year. The contract will begin in the 2026-27 season.

Anderson, a 6-foot-6, 222-pound defenseman, was named the 2026 CCHA Defensive Defenseman of the Year and was also honored on the All-CCHA First Team. He transferred to Michigan Tech for the 2025-26 season after playing his first three years at Lindenwood. In 129 career NCAA games, he scored 15 goals and added 34 assists. He skated in all 39 games as a senior and tallied 11 goals and 13 assists. He ranked fourth in the nation in goals by a defenseman and 16th in blocked shots (65) while also holding a plus-13 rating.

Anderson played in all 26 conference games for Michigan Tech, averaging 23:07 minutes per game, which ranked fifth among CCHA defensemen. His 48 blocked shots ranked seventh and he was a plus-11, which was second-best. Scoring six goals and dishing out 11 assists for 17 points, he had a five-game goal streak, which is the second longest in the nation in over 20 years. He blocked at least one shot in 20 games and had five blocks in a game twice.

Anderson attended NHL Development Camp with the Philadelphia Flyers in July 2025.

He was named the National Defenseman of the Month for January and the CCHA Defenseman of the Month for January and February. He earned four CCHA Defenseman of the Week honors. He was also named to the CCHA All-Academic Team.

Anderson played 90 games at Lindenwood before coming to Houghton and tallied 25 points on four goals and 21 assists. He served as an alternate captain as a junior and led the Lions in blocked shots all three seasons.

Before college, Anderson played 57 games for El Paso in the NAHL, tallying 37 points in 2021-22. He also played over three seasons with CarShield AAA and high school hockey for Oakville in 2017-18.

Former Husky defenseman Scott White is the assistant general manager of the Dallas Stars and the Texas Stars’ general manager. White was inducted into the Michigan Tech Sports Hall of Fame in 2016. He played 154 games in a Michigan Tech uniform from 1985-89 and also served as an assistant coach for the Huskies from 1994-99.
