WestPAC announces boys All-Conference teams

CALUMET — Last week, the WestPAC announced the boys basketball All-Conference teams and the individual awards for the 2025-26 season last Wednesday.

Westwood was the big winner as a school, winning both the varsity and junior varsity titles, before sweeping the major awards. Senior Ethan Marta was named Player of the Year, Senior Jacob Ridl was named Defensive Player of the Year. Finally, coach Luke Gray was named Coach of the Year.

The Dream Team featured a pair of Copper Country players. Houghton sophomore Terrence Nolan was named, and was the only non-senior honored. Jeffers senior Landon Larson was also named to the team.

They were joined by Westwood senior Caden Balzarini, Negaunee senior Tristan Slater, and Ishpeming senior John Wheeler.

Calumet senior Peter Torola, Hancock sophomore Gage Chynoweth, Houghton junior Alex Hebert, Jeffers junior Levi Kinnunen, and West Iron County sophomore Seth Oberlin were named to the Copper Division First Team.

Ishpeming’s Grady Gauthier, Negaunee’s Ethan Gauthier and Easton Guenette, and Westwood’s Ridl and A.J. Pizziola, all seniors, were named to the Iron Division First Team.

Larson was the lone Copper Country representative on the All-Defensive team. He was joined by Pizziola, Guenette, Wheeler, and Westwood senior Louis Salmi.

Calumet senior John Golus, Hancock sophomore Isaac Wanhala, Houghton senior Jack Cooke, Jeffers junior Brexton Kinnunen and West Iron County junior Jessiah Smith were all given honorable mention for the Copper Division.

Gwinn senior Nate Carter, Ishpeming senior Kenny Ambuehl, Negaunee junior Brayden Gleason, and Salmi were all given honorable mention for the Iron Division.
