Bree Besonen paces Copper Mountain Conference’s All-Conference selections

EWEN — The Copper Mountain Conference announced their all-conference teams, and no player had a bigger impact than Ewen-Trout Creek sophomore Bree Besonen. Besonen was named Most Valuable Player and Defensive Player of the Year as well.

L’Anse took home Team of the Year and coach Josh Eagle was named Coach of the Year.

The CMC Elite Team included Baraga senior Kara Roberts and sophomore Mya Hendrickson. Bree Besonen’s older sister Emma Besonen, a senior, and senior Irelynd McGeshick were both named as well. Ironwood senior Jaelyn Novascone and Wakefield-Marenisco senior Emily DelFavero were also honored.

Roberts and Hendrickson led the Copper Country Division First Team selections. Joining them were L’Anse freshman Delanna Connor and sophomore Kwynn Voskuhl. Lake Linden-Hubbell senior Cleo Milkey was also named to the team.

The Second Team featured Baraga eighth-grader Danica Jahfetson, Dollar Bay-Tamarack City senior Aubrey Karppinen, Lake Linden-Hubbell sophomore Payton Goldsworthy, L’Anse sophomore Breyelle Bowers, and Ontonagon senior Kylee Uotila.

Baraga freshman Cara Connor and L’Anse sophomore Princess Pierre were given honorable mention.

In the Porcupine Mountain Division, Bree Besonen led the First Team selections. Joining her were her sister, Emma, and McGeshick from Ewen-Trout Creek, Novascone, and DelFavero.

The Second Team was anchored by Ewen-Trout Creek sophomore McKayla Basel. Joining her were Ironwood junior Akira Ruotsala, and three girls from Wakefield-Marenisco, seniors Emma Choronzy and Carine Cole, and junior Kenly Anderson.

Wakefield-Marenisco’s Noelle Grace, a senior, and Watersmeet senior Alana Barajas were given honorable mention.
