Juntilla dominant at the plate as Copper Kings baseball rolls

GREEN BAY — With two feet of snow still on the field in Calumet the Copper Kings finally got to take the field as they faced off against Green Bay Southwest and Manistique this past weekend.
Calumet defeated Green Bay Southwest 20-1 and took down Manistique 20-4.
In the first game, Oskar Loukus drove in five runs on four hits as the Copper Kings made quick work of Green Bay Southwest. Loukus had a two-run single in the first inning as well as the second inning and an RBI-single in the fourth inning.
Calumet put the game away in the third inning as they scored nine runs on only three hits to take a 14-0 lead.
Joe Halonen earned the win for the Copper Kings allowing zero runs on zero hits with five strikeouts and two walks. Lyle Lasanen had a good game in relief pitching three innings allowing one run on three hits with five strikeouts and zero walks.
In the second game, Andrew Juntilla collected five hits in five at bats with four runs scored, two RBIs and two stolen bases, and was 9-for-9 in the two games combined with seven runs scored and three stolen bases.
“I was seeing the ball very well today,” Juntilla said. “I was staying calm in the box even when I was down in the count and the swing was feeling good and just looking for contact.”
Calumet quickly jumped on Manistique in the first inning as Tyler Halonen singled to left field and Joe Halonen grounded out, each scoring a run.

The Copper Kings answered with four runs in the top of the third inning highlighted by a pair of triples by Loukus and Tyler Halonen to put Calumet up 6-1.
Calumet added five runs in the fifth inning and nine runs in the sixth inning to cruise to the win.
Juntilla also pitched three innings in relief allowing three runs on two hits with three strikeouts and two walks.
