DOLLAR BAY — The Copper Mountain Conference announced its track and field award winners Tuesday. Ironwood’s Talon Hughes was named Most Valuable Player for the boys, while Ontonagon’s Violet Amos won the award for the girls.

L’Anse runner Connor Kemppainen was named Hurdler of the Year for the boys. Chassell’s Jordan Holombo earned the same honor for the girls.

Lake Linden-Hubbell sprinter Addeline Schmitt won the Sprinter of the Year honors for the girls. Bessemer’s Jayden Verrett won the same honor for the boys.

In distance running, Lake Linden-Hubbell’s Lukas Axford won the Distance Runner of the Year for the boys. Ewen-Trout Creek’s Bree Besonen won the girls’ award.

In the throwing category, L’Anse’s Taven Lewis won the Thrower of the Year for the boys. Both Lake Linden’s Maddy Dudenas and Baraga’s Elisa Delene split the honor for the girls.

Finally, in jumping, Dollar Bay-Tamarack City’s Baron Colbert and Bessemer’s Henry Jenkins split the Jumper of the Year honors for the boys.

On the girls’ side, teammates Laila Bell and Kiera Isaacson, of Dollar Bay split the honors as well.
