Lake Linden-Hubbell centerfielder Ashlyn Steves had a strong week last week for the Lakes softball team. She started Monday going 1-for-4 with two RBI in a 13-1 win over L’Anse. Friday, she went 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI in a 9-8 win in the opening game over Gogebic. She followed that up in the nightcap by going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, one walk, and one RBI. She also pitched a complete game, striking out eight and walking three in another 9-8 win. Saturday, she went 2-for-4 in a road game with a run scored before going 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, and an RBI against Crivitz in a 9-7 loss, the Lakes’ first of the season. Against Ironwood Wednesday, she went 2-for-4 with two runs scored in a 20-0 win over Ironwood in the opening game. She followed that up with a 3-for-3 game in the nightcap, walking once, scoring three times and knocking in two. She struck six and walked none in a 13-3 win. (Daver Karnosky/Daily Mining Gazette)
