WEST ISHPEMING — The WestPAC Conference selected its top individual performers after its annual track and field meet here Wednesday.

Houghton junior Sam Roth was named the boys’ overall Most Valuable Performer and Negaunee junior Sadie Rogers was voted the girls’ MVP.

Hancock sophomore Elena Pietila was selected the league’s top distance runner with Negaunee junior Keira Waterman earning MVP honors in the sprinters and West Iron County sophomore Bristol Shamion the top pick in the field events.

Negaunee’s Vickie Paupore earned girls’ Coach of the Year honors with Houghton’s Erik Johnson gaining the same honor for the boys.

Also for the boys, Negaunee senior Derek McEachern gained MVP honors in the sprints. Classmate Simon Jacklin received similar honors in the distances as did Miners’ senior Ethan Gautier in the field events.
