CHASSELL — On Monday, Grandbridge Properties added another win to their undefeated little league season by downing Wesa Insurance 9-3. According to their coach, Travis Huotari, their secret to winning is nothing new.

“The key to tonight and all season has been good hitting,” he stated. “These girls come to swing the bat and everybody in the lineup got a hit tonight.”

Strong hitting started in the first frame. The girls in gray jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Lead off hitter Brynlee Hanner started the game with a base hit to left. She went to second on a walk to Sadie Larson. An Ellington Markhman base rap brought Hanner home, and a double by Emy Keteri scored runs two and three.

The score stayed 3-0 in favor of GrandBridge until they added four more in the third. Two walks and two base hits led to Markham, Braelyn Huotari, Keteri and Marabelle Herman all crossing home plate.

In the top of the fourth, Wesa avoided the shutout with a three-run rally. Back-to-back walks to Cindy Kangas and Liv Aho led to runs. Ina Pelli was the third run after she got on with a one-out base hit up the middle.

However, the GrandBridge bats didn’t slow down.

In the bottom of the fourth, they countered for two more runs. Markham crossed the plate for the third time in the game after a strong hit single to right. Keteri joined her two batters later after reaching on a fielder’s choice.

After blanking the girls in orange in the top half of the fifth, the game ended with a six-run advantage in favor of GrandBridge.
