HANCOCK — Cody Turner provided the game-winning walk off hit for Coldwell Banker Craig Heinonen as it allowed Chase Kinnunen to cross home in the fifth inning in a game against Houghton Building Supply/Stanton Thursday.

It was run No. 10 for Coldwell, and clinched a 10-0 victory for them.

“We hit the ball hard, and put pressure on their defense,” said Coldwell Banker’s player-coach Ross Kinnunen. “When you do that, good things happen, and you score some runs.”

Coldwell Banker scored three in the opening frame and two in the second. Andrew Kinnunen got things started in the first with a leadoff walk. He scored the first run and Chase Kinnunen followed with the second one. Carson Turner then poked a double to left off of Stanton’s starter, Clark Aapala, and later scored.

In the second frame, Coldwell added two more. A walk to Trevor Halonen led to a run as did an error at third by Stanton. That allowed Chase Kinnunen to earn another tally.

Brady Turner earned the win for Coldwell by throwing strikes and allowing his defense to make the plays. The best Stanton could do was get to third base via Zach Geborkoff, who had a walk in the third. While Brady Turner threw three scoreless innings, Carson Turner came in to close it out.

“We hit the ball well, played good defense and had strong pitching,” said Ross Kinnunen. “All three facets came together for the win.”

Coldwell Banker put the nail in the coffin with a five-run rally in the bottom of the fifth. Base hits by Ross Kinnunen and Eric Anderson, as well as Chase Kinnunen, all led to runs. Errors on the Stanton infield put Brady Turner and Trevor Halonen on and later across home plate for the win.
