LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The Michigan Tech Huskies volleyball team received the AVCA Team Academic Award for 2025-26, earning the honor for the 14th straight season. Tech held a 3.54 team grade-point average.
Twelve Huskies were named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team while two others were on the GLIAC All-Academic Team. Sophomore middle blocker Paige Wagner and freshman setter Madelynn Kreider maintained a 4.0 GPA in both semesters.
A record-breaking 1,432 collegiate and high school volleyball teams maintained a year-long grade-point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale to earn the 2026 AVCA Team Academic Award.
“It comes as no surprise to see our sport have more than 1,400 teams earn the AVCA Team Academic Award again this season,” said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. “We are grateful for the dedication of the coaches and players who make both classroom and on-court success the lifeblood of their programs.”
Kreider, Wagner, and junior right side hitter Rachel Zurek were named to the All-GLIAC Second Team, while junior middle blocker Tricia Kennedy was an Honorable Mention selection. Wagner was also named to the 2025 Academic All-District Volleyball Team for her combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
