UP Sports Hall of Fame to hold golf scramble
CHAMPION — Registration is now open for the Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame’s four-person golf scramble.
Teams can be all women, all men or coed. The tournament is limited to 36 teams, so interested participants are encouraged to register quickly.
The golf tournament will be held on Sunday, July 26, at the Wawonowin Country Club located in Champion. The $400 entry fee includes 18 holes of golf, dinner and cash prizes.
Golf carts are available for rent at $50 each. The tournament begins with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Eastern Standard Time.
This golf tournament is a fundraiser to support the work of the UPSHF, including providing four $1,000 scholarships annually to four graduating seniors from high schools across the U.P. The four scholarship award winners in 2026 were Ashley Carlson (Norway), Dylan Adkinson (Munising), Emma Besonen (Ewen-Trout Creek) and Jack Kriegl (Kingsford).
If you’re interested in supporting the UPSHF but you’re not a golfer, you still can help out. Hole sponsorships are available for $100 to advertise your business or share a message of support. Donations are also gratefully accepted.
For more information, to sign-up as a hole sponsor, or to register your four-person team, contact Karen Plaiser at karjer@charter.net or at 906-458-9885. Registration closes on Wednesday July 22.
