HAMILTON, N.Y. -- The Colgate Red Raiders men’s hockey announced the addition of former Michigan Tech Huskies forward C.J. Eick as an assistant coach in July.
Eick brings over 15 years of coaching and playing experience with him to Hamilton.
“We are super excited to welcome C.J. and his family to ours,” coach Mike Harder said. “C.J.’s vast experience will help us develop all our players with focus on our defensemen and special teams.”
Prior to joining the Raiders, Eick spent the last three years as an assistant coach for the Waterloo Black Hawks in the USHL, where another former Huskies forward, Brett Olson, just took over as the head coach. During his tenure, the Black Hawks earned two winning seasons and a trip to the Clark Cup Final.
Eick began his coaching career as an instructor for the Michigan Tech Hockey School during his time at Michigan Tech as a student-athlete. He then went on to serve as an assistant coach at Trinity College during the 2022-23 season.
His playing career began with the Green Bay Gamblers, where he played two seasons. Eick then played four seasons at Michigan Tech, where he made 145 college appearances and logged 14 goals and 38 assists.
After graduation, Eick played seven years in the ECHL. He played for the Utah Grizzlies, Kansas City Mavericks, and Indy Fuel from 2016-2022. He logged over 380 career games in the ECHL and posted 42 goals and 56 assists. Eick played one final game for the Kalamazoo Wings in the 2023-24 season.
