Garnet Garage outplays Coldwell Banker in Twilight action

HANCOCK -- Good hitting, good fielding and strong pitching was the key mix Thursday night at the Hancock Driving Park for Garnet Garage as they posted a 3-1 win over Coldwell Banker Craig Heinonen in Twilight League baseball.
After a scoreless three innings, Garnet posted two in the fourth and one in the fifth to seal the win. They did it behind Chris Saari, who earned a complete-game win from the mound. Scoring in the fourth were Eli Heathman and Mike Saari. Heathman smacked a double to left and Mike Saari poked a single to left center before scoring.
In the fifth, it was the exact same combo with only Heathman scoring before the third out was made.
Up 3-0, Coldwell Banker avoided the shutout in their last at bat.
Their only run came in the seventh when Carson Turner got on base with a one-out single. He advanced to third with a Cam Anderson base rap, and then came home a batter later courtesy of Kyle Heltunen and his base rap.
After that, Brody Turner flied out to first, and Andrew Kinnunen grounded into the final out of the game at second.
According to Garnet’s catcher, Mike Saari, this game was won in the field, as his brother Chris had just one strikeout. He threw strikes and his teammates backed him up, period.
"We played error-free ball tonight," he stated. "That was key, as were the timely hits. Chris threw strikes, and it all came together."
