Dollison scores for Huskies against Northwood

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- The Michigan Tech Huskies soccer team fell 3-1 to the Northwood Timberwolves Thursday evening in a neutral-site match at Cedarville.
The Huskies tied the game in the first half, but surrendered a pair of second-half tallies.
“Tonight was obviously not the result we wanted,” Huskies coach Mellisa Kuhar said. “I thought we had the better chances and really created a lot in the final third, but just couldn’t find the back of the net.
“We created more shots today than in the first two games of the season combined. At some point we need to find the back of the net, and hopefully it will come. It’s not for a lack of energy and effort from the girls. We move forward to Saturday and look to continue the momentum.”
Sophomore midfielder Kenzie Dollison scored Michigan Tech’s first goal of the season 20:06 into the game. The Huskies got a corner kick, and Dollison blasted in a loose ball with a left-footed strike through traffic.
Madelyn Boyd gave Northwood its lead back 5:45 into the second half with a 20-yard shot into the top corner.
Madelyn Boyd scored her second of the game on a penalty kick at 78:26 for the final tally.
Ella Boyd scored the game’s first goal at 15:12 to give the Timberwolves the lead.
Michigan Tech led in overall shots 19-9, with a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal. The Huskies also led in corner kicks, 5-1.

The Black and Gold remain in Ohio to play weekend host Cedarville Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Northern Michigan is also in town and played to a scoreless draw with the Yellow Jackets Thursday evening.
