Keweenaw Jiu Jitsu competitors travel to Wisconsin Dells

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. -- Saturday, four competitors from Keweenaw Jiu Jitsu went to Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, to compete in the Grappling Industries Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament.

Tom Knewtson, coach Stan Myaskovskiy, Pearl Murr, and Brett Huuki all competed and won medals in their respective brackets.

Knetson earned a bronze medal in a six-person bracket, and won two of his matches with a fade-away guillotine choke.

Myaskovskiy earned a silver medal in a four-person bracket and won a match with a heel hook.

Pearl won a silver medal in a seven-person bracket, with this being her first competition.

Huuki, another first time competitor, earned a bronze medal in a 14-person bracket and ended the day with a 5-1 record.

Keweenaw Jiu Jitsu has classes available six days a week, so if you want to compete, are looking to get in shape, or just want to learn self-defense in a safe environment with group accountability, they have a spot for you.
