Lakes football rolls to win over Norway

LAKE LINDEN -- Lake Linden-Hubbell Lakes football coach Brett Gervais knows every year that his team will be in a battle whenever, and wherever, they face the Norway Knights. Saturday was no exception at Ron Warner Field.
The two teams battled, but it was a strong first quarter by the host Lakes that made all the difference as Lake Linden earned a 60-32 win over the Knights. With the win, the Lakes improved to 4-0 on the season.
The Lakes scored no less than 14 points a quarter to keep the Knights offense from taking control of the game at any point.
Brady Axford was outstanding for the Lakes. He rushed 21 times for 248 yards of offense with three touchdowns and a two-point conversion.
Through the air, he was 3-for-4 for 24 yards and a touchdown as well. And, for good measure, he had three catches for 76 yards and a touchdown.
On special teams, he had an 86-yard kick return for a touchdown.
Tyler Axford followed in his brother's footsteps, rushing just seven times, but racking up 122 yards and a touchdown. He also threw the ball twice for 60 yards, a touchdown, and a two-point conversion.
Finally, he had four catches for 24 yards, a touchdown, and a two-point conversion.
Blake Lebo went 3-of-5 through the air for 16 yards and a two-point conversion. He also ran six times for 36 yards, a touchdown, and a two-point conversion.
Alfred Milkey and Josh Daavettila both chipped in as well. Milkey had four rushes for four yards, and one reception for a two-point conversion. On defense, he had an interception. Daavettila ran four times for 24 yards. Defensively, he also came up with an interception.

The Lakes stay home to host North Central (3-1) Saturday with opening kick set for 1:30 p.m. Norway fell to 3-1 and returns home to face Ontonagon Friday night.
